CATHERINE DUPONT In addition to her research on marine exploitation along the French Atlantic coast, Catherine has conducted archaeomalacological research in Djibouti. Her archaeomalacological interests are wide, and include subsistence, gathering strategies, seasonality, taphonomy and the use of shell as a raw material for artefact production. JONATHAN WALZ Jonathan has conducted research in Tanzania and wider eastern Africa, particularly northeast Tanzania and the Swahili Coast of eastern Africa. His primary interests include political economy, craft production, subsistence and climate.
